1.4.15 Man Rescued After Car Plunges Into Rain Swelled Creek on Route 38

On Sunday, January 4^th, in the early morning, Cherry Hill Emergency crews responded to a reported car off the roadway at Route 38 and Mill Road. The car was reported as submerged with the driver standing on top of the vehicle. CHFD crews lowered a personal flotation vest to the victim and then removed him using extended ground ladders from the nearest bank. The victim was checked for injuries by CHFD EMS personnel and transported to a local emergency department. The accident is under investigation by Cherry Hill Police.

Later in the day, Firefighters returned to the scene to assist the tow company by securing the vehicle to remove it. Firefighters treated this opportunity as a training exercise for their cold water rescue operations.

 

Cherry Hill Fire Department supports over 75 children this Holiday Season

For the past 11 years the Cherry Hill Fire Department, under the direction of Firefighter Joe Gerace, and along with many others, have been able to assist families throughout Camden County. They were able to provide gifts for over 75 children to open up on Christmas morning this year.   

On Tuesday evening over 30 volunteers helped wrap all of the gifts and prepared them to be delivered on Christmas Eve. A special thanks to all of those involved with donating the gifts:

Cherry Hill Fire Department Celebrates 20th Anniversary

2014 marks the 20^th anniversary of the organized Cherry Hill Fire Department. Numerous objectives have been accomplished over the years. Approximately 90,000 calls for service have been answered by our Firefighters and Fire Officers’ since 1994. In addition nearly 88,000 EMS calls for service have been answered by our EMT’s since 2003, when EMS became part of Fire Department Operations.

The department will continue to move forward in a progressive fashion serving the residents and visitors of Cherry Hill.

To mark this milestone the Board of Fire Commissioners is issuing a 20^th Anniversary Challenge Coin to all members of the organization.
